Methylisothiazolinone (MIT)

Since 2013 there has been a voluntary ban of MIT in leave on cosmetics and personal care products (including wet-wipes). There is no legal ban yet, but its being heavily discussed at the moment within the EU and a proposal is expected soon. The SCCS have issued an opinion to say that it is not safe and Safety Assessors are not accepting any leave on products containing this ingredient. For rinse-off cosmetic products, a maximum concentration of 15 ppm (0.0015%) is recommended.
